ATLANTA (MyFOX ATLANTA) - A jury reached a verdict Thursday in the case of a famous primate researcher who was shot and paralyzed during an attempted robbery. The jury decided that Elliott Mitchell was guilty on all counts.

Mitchell was accused of shooting and paralyzing world renowned primate researcher, Shelly Williams.

Williams was struck by a stray bullet when a drug deal went wrong at a Smyrna shopping center in 2005.

Investigators said the shot was fired when a fight broke out while Mitchell and his co-defendant, Kendall Bolden were in the area to sell drugs.

On Tuesday, Bolden admitted his guilt in the shooting which left Williams paralyzed.

Bolden and Mitchell were charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, theft by taking and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
